The Baltimore Road Runners Club (BRRC) wants to make sure you have every opportunity to run with the Greater Baltimore running community. Here are our updates on running opportunities for the weekend and near future.

BRRC Long Run
Let’s again hang with the NCR Trail Snails to run at the NCR Trail. No one knows the NCR as well as the Snails. The Snails meet at the Mile 0 marker at Ashland road, off of Paper Mill Road which leads to a small parking lot. Quiet voices are encouraged to avoid annoying local home occupants. Various paces are likely- perfect for new runners as well as moderately faster runners. Unlimited mileage potentials, so pick your distance. Mile markers are generally accurate. 7:30 am start. More info go to http://ncrtrailsnails.com/.

This is a great group that meets in different areas of Baltimore City and County. Bob Hilson has mapped out every inch of the Baltimore area and knows every small coffee shop and diner. The group varies from 20-50 on any given Saturday and a runner can usually find a suitable pace with others. Bob also has a written direction map for those who might need it. Here is Bob’s info for this week

Yo, The Run is set for Saturday, a nice, rolling and mildly challenging jaunt through Druid Hill Park and bits of the Hampden, Remington, Roland Park, Johns Hopkins University and Charles Village neighborhoods.

We launch at 7 a.m. from the Starbucks at the Rotunda, 711 W 40th St., and are offered the opportunity to run either 4, 7.5, 10, 12.7 or 14 miles. Parking available.

And, In other Pacemaker News-
Congrats to Linell Smith, who on Saturday snatched first place hardware in her division at the National Senior Games (age 50+) in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., becoming the first Pacemakers national champion.

Linell competed in the 10k against 23 other women from across the country and Trinidad and Tobago who, like Linell, had to qualify to race for the national championship. The weather was far from ideal for racing — hot and very humid with temps in the 70s – but Linell maintained a steady pace and finished 14 seconds in front of the second-place finisher. Incredible!

Oregon Ridge Trails

May 29-Big Gunpowder Trail Race
At 5 (ish) miles the Big Gunpowder race is the shortest in the BRRC trail series. But don’t let that fool you! This is a GPS Series Race. Please also note- No cash prizes for this race, only glory and pride.

Registration is race-day only starting at 8:15 am in the parking area on the east side of Belair Road (on the side opposite Gunpowder Lodge). Race starts at 9.
