The Baltimore Road Runners Club (BRRC) wants to make sure you have every opportunity to run with the Greater Baltimore running community. Here are our updates on running opportunities for the weekend and near future.

This Weeks Featured Race
The best party in town on a Saturday morning in August. Be there!

Dreaded Druid Hills
August 20th, 7:30AM
Do you love running hills? Then this is the race for you!
The race begins in Druid Hill Park at the Mansion House loop, winding its way past the Rawlings Conservatory, the Zoo entrance and then thru the Frisbee Golf Course. It’s then in the back section of Druid Hill Park where the hills greet you head on! Not to worry, there’s a water stop back there with a large presence of the Baltimore Pacemakers cheering you on & giving you that extra support. Reach the top of the last hill, then turn around and do it all again. No problem!

Our finish line festivities are ice cold watermelon, strawberries, water & Gatorade – all in the shade.

In the past we have made this race with a shirt option but we are giving back to the running community by giving all entrants a race shirt at the non-premium price. This years shirt will be Men’s and Women’s sizing Nike Dri Fit Tank Tops.

This race is a right of passage among the Baltimore running community & beyond. Bragging rights to wear the shirt, and then some! Details and signup are here: Dread Druid Hills 10K.

BRRC Long Run
This week we have NCR Trail Snails running at the Loch Raven Reservoir. The snails meet at McFauls Restaurant at the corner of Loch Raven Drive at Cromwell Valley Road. 7:30 am start. Good parking as long as we leave by 11am. Various paces are likely- perfect for new runners as well as moderately faster runners. The full loop measures 10 miles if you stay on the roads. Some may opt for a trail option. Note that many will find themselves at the Dreaded Druid Hills so turnout may be light.

Pacemakers- Special Sunday Edition as most will be at the Dreaded Druid Hills

Oregon Ridge Trails
Still on hold. Hot August Music Festival is the night before. Big parking lot likely closed on Sunday to clean up from the mayhem.

Pacemakers- Special Sunday Edition as most will be at the Dreaded Druid Hills on Saturday
This is a great group that meets in different areas of Baltimore City and County. Bob Hilson has mapped out every inch of the Baltimore area and knows every small coffee shop and diner. The group varies from 20-50 on any given Saturday and a runner can usually find a suitable pace with others. Bob also has a written direction map for those who might need it. And, as an extra bonus- he collects old but usable running shoes to be shipped to Haiti. Here is Bob’s plan for this week-

Yo, The Run is set for Sunday (SUNDAY), a very nice stroll that includes almost as much of Baltimore County as it does the city and provides you the wonderful opportunity to check out parts of Towson University as well as slices of the Roland Park, Rodgers Forge, Gittings and Charles Village communities.

As mentioned, this is the rare Sunday run because so many of you are running the Dreaded Druid Hills 10k on Saturday but still need that long weekend run.

Anyhow, this thing launches at 6:30 a.m. on Sunday from Panera Bread, 6307 York Road (almost exactly at the city/county line), and provides you the chance to run either 5, 6, 8, 10, 12.5 or 14.2 miles. We’ve arranged for parking.

Speaking of Saturday’s Dreaded Druid Hills 10k, volunteers are needed at the Pacemakers water stop back in the hills. The race starts at 7:30 a.m. and we’d like to have our station set up well before then. Please contact Hilson if you can help.
