Where Are You Running This Weekend?

The Baltimore Road Runners Club (BRRC) wants to make sure you have every opportunity to run with the Greater Baltimore running community. Here is our updates on running opportunities for the weekend and near future.

NCR Trail Snails/ BRRC Long Run
Meet up with the NCR Trail Snails running at the Loch Raven Reservoir. The Snails meet at McFauls Restaurant at the corner of Loch Raven Drive at Cromwell Valley Road. 7:30 am start. Good parking as long as we leave by 11am. Various paces are likely- perfect for new runners as well as moderately faster runners. The full loop measures 10 miles if you stay on the roads. Some may opt for a trail option. More info go to http://ncrtrailsnails.com/.

BRRC 10 Miler Training Group
The BRRC 10 Mile Training Group will meet at Loch Raven on Saturday mornings. They will meet at 7:00 am at the corner of Loch Raven Drive and Morgan Mill Road (“The Rock”). The plan for this week calls for 5 mile run. Enjoy your taper week and HAVE A GREAT RUN IN THE BALTIMORE 10 MILER NEXT SATURDAY!

The Pacemakers is a great group that meets in different areas of Baltimore City and County. Bob Hilson has mapped out every inch of the Baltimore area and knows every small coffee shop and diner. The group varies from 20-50 on any given Saturday and a runner can usually find a suitable pace with others. Bob also has a written direction map for those who might need it. And, as an extra bonus- he collects old but usable running shoes to be shipped to Haiti. Here is Bob’s info for this week:

Hey, The Run is set for Saturday, another glorious day for running and a good chance to explore parts of the Mt. Washington, Union Mill, Clipper Mill, Druid Hill Park and Hampden communities.

We launch at 7 a.m. from Artifact Coffee, 1500 Union Ave., and get the chance to run either 5.6, 8.2, 10.5, 12 or 14.4 miles on a largely downhill jaunt. Please park on the streets and not on the Artifact parking lot.
Congrats to Helen Jones, Patrick McCarthy and Margot Volk for snatching first place hardware in their divisions on Sunday at the Keep Punching 5k in Towson.
Lastly, in two or three weeks, our weekend launch time will change to 6:30 a.m., as it does every summer.
Shoes for Haiti?

GPS Big Gunpowder Trail Race
May 28, 9 am

At about 5.25 miles the Big Gunpowder race is the shortest in the BRRC trail series. But don’t let that fool you! There’s still plenty of excitement in those miles, including a killer climb at the start, probably a water crossing or two, definitely some mud, a few rocky sections, and some of the prettiest single-track around.
This race is free to members, and $10 to non-members. Donations are appreciated and go to BRRC to make it possible for us to have these great events! Thanks! Registration is race-day only starting at 8:15 am in the parking area on the east side of Belair Road (on the side opposite Gunpowder Lodge). Race starts at 9.

Directions: 695 to exit 32B, Belair Road N (Map with pin is on BRRC.com). Across street from Gunpowder Lodge at 10092 Belair Road, 21087
Parking area is on the right. If parking is full, please park across Belair Road at the Park and Ride, next to our friends at the Gunpowder Lodge. This is free parking and you can safely walk through the underpass foot path to our race.
