Where Are You Running This Weekend?

The Baltimore Road Runners Club (BRRC) wants to make sure you have every opportunity to run with the Greater Baltimore running community. Here is our updates on running opportunities for the weekend and near future.

Saturday

NCR Trail Snails

The Trail Snails are back this week at the NCR Trail. No one knows the NCR as well as the Snails. The Snails meet at the Mile 0 marker at Ashland road. This is 1/4 mile east of York road off of Paper Mill Road. Ashland Rd leads to a small parking lot. Quiet voices are encouraged to avoid annoying local home occupants. Various paces are likely- perfect for new runners as well as moderately faster runners. Unlimited mileage potentials, so pick your distance. Mile markers are generally accurate. 7:30 am start. More info go to http://ncrtrailsnails.com

Pacemakers
The Pacemakers is a great group that meets in different areas of Baltimore City and County. Bob Hilson has mapped out every inch of the Baltimore area and knows every small coffee shop and diner. The group varies from 20-50 on any given Saturday and a runner can usually find a suitable pace with others. Bob also has a written direction map for those who might need it. And, as an extra bonus- he collects old but usable running shoes to be
shipped to Haiti. Here is Bob’s info for this week:

Yo, The Run is on for Saturday, a perfect weather day for running and a wonderful pre-Earth Day stroll through parts of the Carroll Park, Union Square, Federal Hill, Inner Harbor, Pigtown, Harlem Park, Hollins Market and Otterbein communities.

We launch at 7 a.m. from the Black Cat Cafe, a soon-to-open eatery located at 48 S. Carrollton Ave. and right behind the Hollins Market in West Baltimore. You’ll get the chance to run 4.3, 10 or 12 miles — or something in between.

Since this run celebrates Earth Day, Glenn Smith will offer small plastic bags and nitrile gloves to use – if you choose — to pick up trash during the run. When your bag is full, drop it in an area trash can. This Earth Day effort is entirely voluntary and similar to what we’ve done in Herring Run Park the last few years.

Also, since Black Cat is not fully open and does not offer food or drinks yet (but has a bathroom), the post-run will be an indoor tailgate affair. If you can or want to, please bring something to share, like coffee, juice, pastry, donuts, bagels, whatever.

You’ll also get a chance to meet Noble, the owner of Black Cat. She’s given us the keys to the place to open because she doesn’t want to get up early.

BRRC Long Run- NCR Trail Run

The BRRC Half Marathon Training Group will meet at 7 am back at Loch Raven Reservoir at Morgan Mill Road (The Rock) . 11 miles is the plan.
