After a hiatus of several years Baltimore Road Runners Club’s Gunpowder Keg Ultra 25K and 50K is back for 2023! The race is being held Saturday April 15th 8AM in the Bunker Hill area of Gunpowder State Park. This beautiful and challenging race in Northern Baltimore County consists of a 15.5 mile loop of mostly single track trails with a smattering of fire road and asphalt. Many of the miles are adjacent to the Gunpowder River with heron and fly fisherman sightings almost guaranteed. 25K runners will complete this loop once. 50K runners will complete the loop twice. Change your mind mid-race and run longer or shorter, you’ll get credit for and count in the results for the distance you completed.
Start time for both races is 8am and there is a 9 hour time limit. We have 2 mid-loop aid stations and one at the 25K/finish that will be staffed by friendly volunteers and stocked with typical ultra fare. If it’s a hot day we’ll add 2 unmanned water only stops along the way.
$20 fee will go to BRRC (we are a 501(c)(3) non-profit) and the park, to keep this and other venues beautiful and available for our use. We ask that everyone bring a gallon of water.
